PERSECUTED BELIEVERS

How would I cope - would I stand firm?
I often wonder as I read of the
Persecuted Christians
Would that be me - fearlessly witnessing
despite suffering?

The poorest of meals - freezing cells
Beatings. Yes, even today in some parts
of the world
They die for their Lord - gladly, joyfully
clinging to the Cross.

I am amazed at their fortitude
I can't just sit here in my comfort doing nothing
I feel helpless - what can I do?

I can pray

Pray as if you were there in their cell
Pray as if it were someone in your family
which they are
All one in Christ Jesus — my brothers and sisters
in Christ

What a difference that makes — one of my own
Suffering for His Name's sake
because they love
I'll remember you my brother, my sister
I'll pray.
