If I were to be asked for my favourite text
I would find that to be an impossible task
But favourite texts - yes, dozens of them which pluck
At the chords of one's spiritual heartstrings,
In a duet with the Heavenlies
God's Word contains many such verses
Of beauty and poignancy .- the very thoughts of God
Straight from the heart of a loving Father.
Texts which stir us into action; encouragement when we feel 'down'
And the necessary reproof when we tend to go our own way
No-one is overlooked. Children are precious to Him
Young people are adjured to remember and honour God
In the days of their youth, to serve Him all their days
Wives husbands - how they should act towards each other
And even in old age we can be fruitful, knowing we, too, are not
forgotten
Before we were born God knew us as he formed us
'Embroidered' us in the womb. The silken threads,
Many-hued, of our personalities - 'wonderfully made'
By the hands of our Omniscient Creator
Who saw the work of His hands, and knew that 'it was good'
'And God planted eternity into the hearts of Men'
To each one He has given an awareness
Of things eternal - His gracious gift
To turn our thoughts to Him, and in so doing
Find salvation, forgiveness, joy and peace
Everything is there for our every need
And we praise God for the written word inspired by the Holy Spirit
And the way in which He uses it for the Lords Glory.
Verses in abundance, each one a 'favourite'
As 'apples of gold in pictures of silver.
