A CHILDS CHRISTIAN STORY BOOK

WELCOME HOME

Before Resurrection there came the Cross;
Before Life there came Death
Before Glory there came Gethsemane
And the agony of loneliness

God’s Redemption At Christ’s Expense — Grace!
A well—known phrase, and how true
We will never understand the cost
Of our Salvation this side of Heaven

It wasn’t just the physical pain
Horrendous though that was.
There fell on Him the loathsomeness of our sin
From which God had to turn away

‘My God, why have you forsaken me?’
Came the agonised. cry
As the weight of complete ‘aloneness’
Fell on the One who knew no sin

But the Cross couldn’t hold him — nor the grave
Death could never be victorious
Over the One who had brought abundant Life to the world,
Powerfully he broke the chains of death and hell

A shout of triumph was sounded
Echoing round the vaults of Heaven
Reverberating throughout the earth
‘He is Risen’ — ‘His the Victory’

The veil between God and man
Is gone for ever — a new relationship has begun
We can now call Almighty God our ‘Father’
An awesome honour given in Love

‘This is my Beloved Son
See His Glory — share His Glory’
With outstretched arms the Father welcomes us
H o m e — through the sacrifice of His Son.
